About Me

Aaron Knights is a business litigator who helps clients resolve complex disputes with a practical, strategic, and results-driven approach. He believes effective advocacy requires more than just aggressive litigation tactics. By combining experience, creativity, and common sense, Aaron works with clients to identify the most efficient path to a favorable outcome, whether through litigation, arbitration, mediation, or pre-suit resolution. He prioritizes frank communication so clients can evaluate their options with a clear understanding of risk, cost, and potential outcomes.

Aaron brings nearly two decades of experience handling high-stakes commercial disputes, including cross-border litigation and arbitration matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts, regulatory proceedings, and private arbitrations. Over the course of his career, he has represented businesses, foreign governments, high-net-worth individuals, and U.S.-based and multinational companies across a broad range of industries, including banking and finance, securities, real estate, energy, health services, professional services, technology, and construction. His background includes managing cases from start to finish, handling all phases of discovery and motion practice, taking and defending depositions, presenting in court and arbitration, and serving in first-chair roles in complex hearings and trials.

Before returning to Buffalo, Aaron practiced for many years in Washington, D.C., where he developed substantial experience in complex commercial litigation and international disputes. That work included representing foreign-based and U.S. clients in significant litigation and arbitration matters, developing trusted relationships with high-level decision-makers, and leading client-facing presentations in the US and abroad. He also has substantial experience in appellate litigation and jurisdictional disputes, including matters involving the Anti-Terrorism Act and questions of U.S. jurisdiction over foreign sovereigns. He has helped secure precedent-setting results in high-profile federal litigation involving foreign government defendants, while also handling complex business disputes across industries.

At Rupp Pfalzgraf, Aaron represents businesses and institutions facing a wide range of commercial disputes, including breach of contract claims, fraud claims, partnership and shareholder disputes, trade secret and restrictive covenant matters, tortious interference claims, construction disputes, and other business torts. He approaches every matter with one objective in mind: achieving the result that best serves the client’s legal and business interests.

Outside of his practice, Aaron values strong relationships, community involvement, and service. He serves on several boards and brings to his practice the perspective of someone who understands that successful businesses are built not only on sound judgment, but also on trust.
