About Me

Young Woo Kim focuses his practice primarily on business litigation, representing clients in disputes that can affect their operations, relationships, and long-term business goals. He approaches each matter with a practical and strategic mindset, working to help clients understand their options, manage risk, and move efficiently toward resolution. He recognizes that business disputes often involve more than legal questions alone, and he aims to provide counsel that is responsive, commercially aware, and tailored to each client’s broader objectives.

Mr. Kim represents businesses and individuals in a range of complex matters, with a particular emphasis on business-related disputes. His professional perspective is shaped by an international educational and personal background that gives him a strong familiarity with legal and business environments across Korea, China, and the United Kingdom. Although his practice is centered on domestic matters, his background allows him to understand the cultural, linguistic, and practical considerations that can arise when clients operate across borders or engage with international business partners. That perspective is especially valuable in matters involving foreign parties, international business considerations, or clients navigating unfamiliar legal and commercial settings.

Before joining Rupp Pfalzgraf, Mr. Kim worked as a foreign legal consultant at a Korean law firm, where he advised clients from around the world on Korean legal issues connected to their business activities. In addition to his litigation practice, he has experience advising on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including issues involving Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), as certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Mr. Kim studied in Beijing during his formative years, attended schools in Korea, and earned both undergraduate and master’s law degrees in the United Kingdom. These experiences continue to shape the way he serves clients, particularly those whose matters call for cultural fluency, adaptability, and a broader international perspective.

Outside of work, Mr. Kim values continued learning and opportunities to engage with people and perspectives from different backgrounds. He is an active member of Dansville Gliding Club. He is proficient in Korean and also speaks limited Mandarin Chinese.
